Holy crap! Amberspike-Sama submitting something under Digital Media?!? My goodness, the world must have ended, because I thought I'd never come to that point. But though I inked and colored both characters through traditional means, the amount of digital work on it was so much that I felt it simply did not belong in the Traditional Media category.
...I'm very proud of this.
This is the long-awaited DistxNephry pic, with the lyrics to Evanescence's "Good Enough," a song that's been my favorite for a while. I doubt these two show any romantic relations in the game, but in my personal (and highly detailed) TOA universe, caring, motherly Nephry is the love interest of angsty, outwardly arrogant but inwardly insecure Dist. Nephry is just nice to everyone and really doesn't realize the depth of Dist's devotion to her at first, and ends up unconsciously manipulating her rather obsessive friend...mainly because he can't say no to her.
I was searching random Evanescence lyrics before I had gotten the album The Open Door, and "Good Enough" really struck me because of how perfectly it described Nephry and Dist. In fact, I think it was the reason I put the album on my Christmas list--that song alone. ^^ Heh.
This took a few hours' time of messing around with on PSPX--I actually didn't just paint a black background around the two, but erased the background around them, which proved to be somewhat of a pain but allowed me to move their figures around, change them to separate opacities, etc. And the rain...my gawd, I love how the rain turned out, thanks to this very helpful tutorial. I expected that part to be quite difficult, but it was actually pretty easy, since the tutorial was so clear. (Gotta go fav that thing now... )
Oh yes, and in case you're wondering about the characters' outfits, I played around a bit in trying to decide at what point in time I should place my TOA universe's fashions. I ended up picking the eighteenth century, since those long coats with the buttons and lace were just so adorable on Dist. ^^ And I did use some ref for Nephry's dress. Hence the detail, and the fact that the coloring isn't half bad.
And I know there's plenty of anatomy problems here. I'm still working on that, so...don't mention them.
